The state government was reacting to an allegation by the PDP that it spent over N70 million to fund the Okpekpe International 10 kilometer Road Race, and that the governor allegedly wasted the state’s resources on foreign athletes, instead of developing sports at the grassroots level and also pay arrears of pensioners in the state. 120 Golfers compete for SMT Volvo Global prizes

Co-ordinator of the event, Kome Brown, said the club would be besieged with golfers from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Edo states. According to her, the event would be preceded with a cocktail dinner, on the evening before the tournament’s tee-off. “The golf event is part of a Work and Play project that we are presently nursing to maturity and the concept is basically to create a platform for busy corporate individuals to connet in a social atmosphere. The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Command, Comptroller Mohammed Uba, who disclosed this, said the suspects, who are currently in custody, must be charged to court to serve as a deterrent to other economic saboteurs. He said: “In April, we made 15 seizures with a Duty Paid Value, DPV, of N865.5 million and underpayments recovery of N23.3million. The call was sequel to a unanimous adoption of a motion by Rep. Ajisafe Olowookere (Ondo-APC) at the plenary on Thursday. Moving the motion earlier, Olowookere said that being properly dressed was necessary to prevent identity crisis and also portray the force as a disciplined organisation. He said that the uniform was equally important given the worrisome spate of insecurity in the country, with spiralling incidents of kidnappings and armed robberies on the highways. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Niger Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has arrested a suspected impersonator in the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). “We have arrested one Mohammed Sani Musa suspected to have been hired to write the examination for another candidate at the Ibrahim  Babangida University  centre in Lapai,” the Commandant, Mr Philip Ayuba, told newsmen. Ayuba, who spoke on Thursday in Minna, disclosed that the suspect was arrested by officers stationed at the centre. “We have interrogated the suspect and he has confessed to being hired from Nasarawa State by one Abdullahi Isa, who is still at Large,” he said.
