http://ift.tt/2rIktPa Nigeria recorded another major political development when it returned to democratic rule in 1999 after it suffered many years of unstable governance, sometimes, truncated by the military action. Before then, the country, shortly after gaining independence from Great Britain in 1960, went to a devastating civil war between 1967 and 1970. Civilian rule was, however, instituted after the war in 1979 and it lasted until 1983, when the military leaders took over the leadership of the country. Due to past occurrences in governance of the nation, when democratic rule was inaugurated in 1999, the cynic expressed concern about the future of the country. However, 18 years down the line, Nigeria has peacefully and successfully changed power from one democratic government to another. They gave the warning while handling over Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG, to scores of Christians women under the for Catholic Women Association of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, in Lekki, Eti-Osa Local Government, aimed at ending use of fossil fuel as cooking option in Lagos State. Addressing the women, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager of Gas Terminalling and Distribution ltd, Michael Olajide, emphasized the benefits of using clean fuels like LPG for cooking and how to safely use LPG cylinders in a better way to prevent any undue accident. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Several days after about 145 staff were retrenched following the closure of its TVC News Africa arm, the management of Continental Broadcasting Services (CBS) said it has increased investments in its television and radio businesses with the aim of improving the viewing and listening experience of its audience. “The investment objectives also include shooting the stations to a pole-position in the media industry rankings, thus making them the first choice for advertisers in Nigeria,” CBS said in a statement on Thursday. The investments will cut across CBS three TVC Entertainment; TVC News and Radio Continental. Making the announcement on Wednesday, the Chief Executive Officer, Continental Broadcasting Services, Mr. Andrew Hanlon said viewers, listeners and advertisers on the channels should be ready for exciting times as the execution of the plan commence with immediate effect. “I am delighted to confirm today that substantial investments will be made in p...
