Customs C-G promises adequate cargo scanners at ports

Hameed Ali, retired has assured stakeholders of adequate scanners at the ports as part of Federal Government’s effort to ensure conducive business environment. Ali gave the assurance on Wednesday in Lagos at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on the implementation of the Executive Orders issued by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. “We realised that fast-tracking the Executive Orders required functional scanners which would subject all containers to examination. “Inadequate scanners will not facilitate trade but in a couple of months, adequate scanners will be available in various ports in the country,” Ali said. According to him, the service will engage in shift-duties for officers to work 24-hours to achieve the executive order and to also facilitate trade.
