In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, on Thursday in Abuja, the party said the Bill aimed to reform the oil and gas industry toward greater transparency and accountability. The party said that the Bill had ‘’languished’’ in the various chambers of the National Assembly for about 12 years but took the purposeful and dedicated APC-led Senate to pass it. “We are very excited that the Bill was passed today after about 12 years delay. “We specially commend the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, for his focused leadership of the 8th Senate,’’ it said. EFCC Act for review, says minister

Malami made this known on Thursday at the inauguration of the Ibadan Zonal office of EFCC. He said the review would ensure that the frequent removal of the commission’s chairman was checked. “There would also be emphasis on strengthening public education and awareness. “ The agency will be repositioned to function at par with its international counterparts in developed countries,’’ he said. World Bank, Gombe govt. set to de-silt drainage channels in Gombe

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J A World Bank-assisted project, Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), in collaboration with the Gombe State Government, will de-silt 8,361 sq. metres of drainage channels in Gombe city. NEWMAP Coordinator, Mr Bala Nayaya, made this known at the launch of the project in Gombe on Thursday. He said that the drainage channels were located in Gadan-Malali, Gadan-Malam Fela, Behind Bima Lodge, Central Police Station areas, among others. He said that the aim of the exercise was to prevent the occurrence of floods and disease outbreaks, adding that the residents should always endeavour to keep their surroundings clean. Fashioner designer shot dead by police officer at birthday party in Lagos

The sources said police officer, who is believed to be a senior officer at Ijeshatedo Divisional Police Headquarters (name withheld) allegedly shot and killed Ayoade on Sunday evening in the area. The incident which occurred at about 7.30 p.m. at No. 49, Wosilat Daudu St., Ijeshatedo, also left two persons injured. The deceased, Ayoade had gone to the area to attend a friend’s birthday party when he met his untimely death, one of the sources said.
