Greek PM calls for EU investments to break debt deadlock
http://ift.tt/2sEOFZG Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday urged the EU to commit to investments aimed at boosting Greek growth in order to break a deadlock between European creditors and the IMF over the nation’s debt. “The key to overcoming the disagreements” between the IMF and the eurozone on measures to alleviate Greek debt is to reduce their “differences of estimation on Greek growth in the medium and long term,” Tsipras said in a speech. To do this, “Europe should undertake initiatives and commitments for investment programmes that will boost Greek growth.” Talks over Greece’s debt mountain — which stands at 179 percent of GDP — have been paralysed for months by disagreements between the International Monetary Fund and European creditors led by Germany. The Europeans expect Greece’s economy to grow strongly and its government to bring in large surpluses in revenue in the coming years, allowing it to pay down its debts. B...

Meningitis still on rampage
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J MENINGITIS outbreak has been on for months and it’s still on the rampage. Many children are affected and are on admission in hospital across the country. A report from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) showed that at least 438 deaths from 3,959 suspected cases, of which 181 are laboratory-confirmed, have been recorded in 106 local government areas in 19 states. The sad news is that it is still ongoing. Those that are mostly affected are aged five to fourteen and the symptoms of the disease include stiff neck, high fever, rashes, headache, vomiting and convulsion. Many deaths recorded wouldn’t have been if there had been adequate awareness because many children were kept at home by parents who thought the ailment their children had was ordinary fever. Some parents who should be proactive may have thought the ailment was measles that caused the high fever and, as such, resulted into natural prescription of using bitter leaf to rub the body and give the...
