Kano trains 60 Fulani youths on artificial insemination

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Kano State Government says it has trained 60 fulani youths on artificial insemination for livestock breeding including dairy cattle to boost milk and meat production. Dr Nasiru Gawuna, the state’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, said this while speaking with newsmen in Kano on Wednesday. Gawuna said the training was aimed at replacing some of the animals that were killed at the height of terrorist activities in the state. “The youths have been trained in artificial insemination. 2 Shoprite employees docked over alleged N1.4m theft

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Two employees of Shoprite Retail Supermarket Ltd., Lagos, were on Tuesday arraigned in Lagos for allegedly stealing N1.4 million from their employer. The accused, Moses Adeyemi,19, and Rasheed Naasir, 37, reside at No. 23, Patey St., Lagos Island and Lekki Beach Road, Jakande, respectively. They appeared in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. The prosecutor, Sgt. Nicholas Akpene, told the court that the accused and others at large committed the offences between the months of April and May, at Shoprite Retail Supermarket, Victoria Island, Lagos. He said that the accused stole the sum of N1.4 million, while performing their duties. ‎ “The accused diverted money paid by customers through Point of Sale (POS) Terminals into their personal accounts, rather than their employer’s account. “They used a special code to transfer the money to their accounts without the knowledge of the company,” he said. World Bank, AFDB to fund SCADA for TCN

The Executive Director, Finance and Account at the TCN, Mr. Sony Iruoche, who disclosed this to Vanguard in Abuja, said the technology would be funded by international development partners like World Bank and African Development Bank, AFDB. Mr. Iruoche disclosed further that a committee to fast tract procurement of the equipment has been set up. Lafia: Police confirm beheading of 5-year-old

The boy was beheaded on Monday with his headless body dumped in an uncompleted building, according to the DSP Kennedy Idirisu, the state police Spokesman. Idirisu told the Newsmen on Tuesday in Lafia that the headless body of Meshach, son of one Mr John Ona, was discovered at 9a.m. on Monday. He said that the police had begun investigation into the case. Idirisu called on parents to properly watch over their children and wards. A relative of the boy, Miss Mary Adogo, had told NAN that the child went to excrete on Monday and never returned. The affected students are students of the university’s Postgraduate Programme; Regular Programme; Diploma Programme; Continuous Education Programme, CEP and Science Laboratory Technology Programme, SLT. Rape of 6-month-old girl: Kano Govt. to push for life imprisonment

The government said it was deeply saddened by the news of the rape allegedly committed by a close confidant of the victim’s family. The government stand is contained in a statement issued in Kano on Saturday by the state Commissioner of Information, Malam Mohammed Garba. It said that Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje had directed the state Ministry of Justice to prosecute “whoever is involved in this sordid sexual crime.” The statement described the act as despicable, dastardly and condemnable, “which is alien to our religious and cultural values.
