http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Federal Government will establish special schools for women who abandoned school to get married, Minister of Women Affairs has said. “All women that married at early age will have the opportunity to continue with their education from their husbands houses. “The schools will be in two categories so as to avoid problems emanating from the establishment of the schools. “The first category is for those who started their schooling but due to one reason or the other dropped out. “The other category is for the Adult Literacy classes that will be established in all local governments to assist women attain certain literacy level. “In the Adult literacy schools, the women will also be empowered with skills training during their lessons. “The women will be trained how to make soap, local soft drink, candle, pomade, cake, local hair dressing, tailoring and other small businesses.” the minister told newsmen on Thursday in Katsina. The club’s new Lady Captain, Grace Ihonvbere, teed off the one-day event which usually heralds the tenure of the new leader of the club’s Ladies Section. Several past lady captains, such as the former President of the Lady Golfers Association of Nigeria (LGAN), Ngozi Osuhor, and Mirabel Edozie and Lami Ahmed were part of the competition. Ekanem Ekwueme, the current Zonal Vice-President of LGAN, and top lady golfers such as Rachael Danjuma and Amina Wilfred also took part. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J A Minna High Court on Wednesday granted bail in the sum of N150 million to former Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger, charged with N4.568 billion misappropriation. Aliyu was arraigned last Tuesday on a six-count charge alongside Umar Nasko, the Chief of Staff under his administration. The former officials were accused of conspiring and dishonestly converting for personal use, the sum belonging to Niger State Government. According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which is prosecuting the former officials, the misappropriated funds are ecological projects funds as well as money realised from the sale of 16 per cent shares of the state in the North-South Power Company. The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
