IGP orders arrest of Coalition of Northern Youths members

http://ift.tt/2p9I2Pm Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Kaduna State to investigate and arrest members of the Coalition of Northern Youths for issuing an ultimatum to South Easterners living in the North. The Coalition of Northern Youths on June 6, at a news conference in Kaduna, gave a three-month ultimatum to South Easterners living in the North to leave. It had also ordered Northerners living in the southeastern part of the country to return to the North. The group attributed the ultimatum to the constant agitation by the Igbo ethnic group to have their own independent country. The IG gave the order at a meeting with Commissioners of Police and other high ranking officers on Thursday in Abuja. Sen. Adeleke didn’t die from poison–Pathologist

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Dr Taiwo Sholaja, the lead pathologist who carried out  the autopsy on the body of  the late Sen. Isiaka Adeleke,  on Wednesday told a  coroner inquest that no trace  of poison was found in the body system of the deceased when it was examined. Sholaja,  while giving evidence before the coroner, Chief  Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, said the autopsy carried out by him and two other pathologists from Ladoke Akintola University Hospital, Osogbo,  revealed that the late senator died of “aspiration of gastric content due to multiple drug overdose.’’ He said the autopsy carried out by him and his team was performed in the presence of the Police Divisional Officer of  Dugbe Police Station, Osogbo,  SP Ogunkanmi Gbemileke and the two other pathologists from LAUTECH. Siblings land in court over scuffle with police officer

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Two siblings, Patrick Asemokhne, 24, and Rebecca Asemokhne, 21, on Monday appeared in a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly slapping a police officer on duty and tearing his uniform. The duo, of no fixed address, are also accused of dispossessing the officer of some of his valuables. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count-charge of affray, assault and stealing brought against them. The prosecutor, Insp. Romanus Unuigbe, told the court that the duo committed the offences on May 4, at Kiniun-Ifa Street, Ifako, in Gbagada, Lagos. He said that the siblings got into a fight with one Iyoha Ohireme, a police officer on duty, who waved them down on a commercial motorcycle. Unuigbe said the duo, in the scuffle with the police officer,  slapped him on the face, tore his uniform and dispossessed him of valuables worth N205,000.
